My kids think it’s funny to put on the “goofy” music of my youth. What they don’t get is, however silly it may be (and I don’t think it’ silly at all), that the song “Kyrie” by Mr. Mister instantly transports me to the summer between my freshman and sophomore years in high school. The feeling is so real (my heart even started beating faster!), I might as well be there. It’s amazing, the way the human brain can do that. I hear the song, and I immediately remember the shoes I wore constantly that summer, and the boy I had a crush on, and the way I wore my hair (huge and crispy, of course!). Memory is an interesting thing.
